Mr. Goodrich stated that Council's November 26, 1985 action approving a 15% <br />gross salary increase for City Assessor Wirz for added responsibilities taken <br />on since the Building Inspector's termination has become an issue with the <br />AFSCME Union; Mr. Goodrich recommended Council rescinding their action and <br />referring the matter to the bargaining union for negotiation. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilm~mber Schlueter and seconded by Councilm~mber Cox to rescind <br />the Council action on November 26, 1985 wherein the Council voted to approve a <br />15% gross salary increase to City Assessor Wirz to be retroactive to October 1, <br />1985 and continue through December 31, 1985. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember COx stated that it is a sad situation when <br />somebody can't be compensated appropriately. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Heitman, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />Reimann and Schlueter. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich explained that the publisher of the newsletter could not be <br />present at this meeting to discuss newsletter publication problems and possible <br />solutions; the publisher would also prefer to meet with City Staff prior to <br />approaching City Council. <br /> <br />Council consensus is that Staff should pursue the idea of a monthly newsletter <br />publication when meeting with the publisher. <br /> <br />~ Councilm~mb~r Pre~in~E ~aEingsI <br /> <br />Councilmenber Cox stated that he and Councilmember Reimann held their precinct <br />meeting and again nobody attended other than Police Chief Auspos who was <br />invited to witness the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Reimann to request <br />that the Charter Commission review for deletion that ~rtof the City Charter <br />requiring precinct meetings to be conducted. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Heitman, Councilm~bers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />Reimann and Schlueter. Voting NO: None. <br /> <br />Councilm~n~er Cox stated that he would like to resign his position as precinct <br />representative. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman stated that he will not accept Councilmember Cox's resignation as <br />precinct representative as the term is due to expire January 1, 1986. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that he will not attend any precinct meetings. <br /> <br />Councilmember Reimann requested that City Attorney look into whether or not the <br />Community School Committee is going to reconvene. <br /> <br />December 17, 1985 <br /> <br />Page 16 of 18 <br /> <br /> <br />
