B. Awarding Of Price Quotes For Water Meters - <br /> <br />City Engineer stated that after attending a meter demonstration put on by <br />Rockwell, he still recommends the bid be awarded to Daview Water Equipment. <br /> <br />Council unanimously consented to dispense with the reading of the proposed <br />resolution. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Scblueter and seconded by Councilmember Reimann to <br />adopt Resolution #85-4 accepting the bids received for water meters and <br />awarding the price quote to Davies Water Equipment in the amount of $6,657.00. <br />(Please refer to resolution file for Resolution #85-4). <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Cox inquired as to who reviewed and <br />compared water meter types in order to come to a knowledgeable recommendation. <br />Mr. Raatikka stated that he and Mr. Berg discussed the matter with other <br />cities and various suppliers and attended a meter demonstration put on by <br />Rockwell. Councilmember Schlueter stated that she too attended the <br />demonstration by Rockwell and discussed meter types with Mr. Raatikka and Mr. <br />Berg; she feels the Neptune T-10 is best suited to Ramsey's needs. <br />Councilmember COx inquired if Councilmember Schlueter researched any other <br />types of meters. Councilmember Schlueter replied that she did not; she based <br />her decision on Mr. Raatikka's determination after discussing the issue of <br />meters with other cities. Councilmember Cox stated that Councimember <br />Schlueter stated she attended the demonstration and then she says she based <br />her decision on Mr. Raatikka's recommendation. Mr. Raatikka stated that it <br />was not necessary to review other types of meters; the choice had been <br />narrowed down to the Rockwell and Davies. Councilmember Cox stated that <br />Ramsey now has three experts in the field of water meters -- Mr. Raatikka, Mr. <br />Berg and Councilmember Schlueter. Councilmember Schlueter replied that she <br />does not presume to be an expert on anything. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Heitman~OUncilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />Reimann and Schlueter. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox thanked Councilme~ber Schlueter for taking the time to look <br />into the meter issue. <br /> <br />The Sales Representative from Davies was present and thanked Council for the <br />bid award. <br /> <br />The Sales Representative from Rockwell was present and thanked Council for <br />their consideration. <br /> <br />A. Landfill Report Regarding Landfill Water Monitoring, Pest Control and <br /> Landfill Inspection - <br /> <br />Council noted receiving Landfill Water Monitoring, Pest Control and Landfill <br />Inspection reports. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka stated that Well #8 continues to show contamination; all wells <br />show an increase in nitrate levels.
