Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos replied the funds would come from the Lawful Gambling Funds.

Mayor Gamec stated that the entrance wall and signage with the landscaping seems important at
this time.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos reviewed the costs of completing a bare minimum project.

Councilmember Kurak stated that she was looking at it as a phased project and inquired as to
how the Park Commission would feel about phasing the project.

Todd Cook, Chairperson of Park Commission, replied that the Park Commission would have no
problem with phasing the project, but if they phase the project the Park Commissions Capital
Improvement Plan would be impacted for three years. What the Park Commission was looking
at was funding the initial project to get it started and then asking the Council to come forward
with funds in the general fund to complete the other phases of the project for 2003 and 2004.

Mayor Gamec noted that the black top, stone wall, and placing of the sign would be around
$28,000, and inquired if that would be adequate.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos replied that he felt that would be adequate for the first phase.

Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to recommend that the City
Council to proceed with the first phase of the Central Park Entrance with a not to exceed amount
of $28,000.

Further discussion: Councilmember Kurak requested that staff bring back the first phase
proposal. Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos inquired if it would be acceptable to present the plan
to the Council in the Weekly Update. Councilmember Hendriksen replied that he would like to
see the project go out for bids and a rendering presented to the Council.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, Kurak,
and Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

COMMITTEE INPUT

Nolle.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to adjourn the
meeting.

Motion carried.

Finance Committee/January 22, 2002
