Voting No: None.

COMMITTEE INPUT

1) Scheduling Conflict for February 20, 2002 at Fire Station Number II

City Administrator Norman noted that the Chapter 9 Committee has scheduled a meeting for
February 20, 2002, but the Fire Station had already been scheduled to be used by the Fire
Department. The Council had been asked if they would be willing to meet at City Hall off-
camera to move the updating of Chapter 9 along. The Council had asked if it would be feasible
for the Fire Department to use a different area for their training at that time the Fire Chief was
not available to answer that question.

Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler explained that there would be a medical training
session at the Fire Station on February 20th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with approximately 18 to
22 people attending.

Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if all of the people would be presented at one time.

Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied yes, explaining that it will be a classroom
type setting.

Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if it would be possible to use other areas for the training
session.

Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that anything was possible, but he hesitated
to make that change.

Councilmember Hendriksen inquired as to what the impact would be if the location were
changed.

Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler explained that when the fire station was constructed
there were some dissatisfied feelings with using the facility for Council chambers, but he had
assured the Fire Fighters that the Council's use would not impact the use of the fire facilities for
their purposes.

Mayor Gamec recommended taping the Chapter 9 meeting at City Hall that could be replayed on
cable television.

Councilmember Hendriksen inquired as to who on staff would be responsible for arranging that.

City Administrator Norman replied that he would assign the responsibility to the Community
Development Director.

Finance Committee/February 12, 2002
