will install the backstops at Titterud. <br /> <br />Councilmsmber Cox stated that the backstops are needed immediately and <br />inquired why street sweeping takes higher priority. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that there were oomplaints from citizens regarding the <br />need for street sweeping and the sealooating projects are also coming in. <br /> <br />Councilm~r COx stated that Ms. Sather has 4 men willing to do the work; all <br />the City has to do is provide one person to supervise the project. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that Ms. Sather told Mr. Mevisson that 4 women had <br />volunteered to do the work but the boards are too heavy for th~m to handle. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that Mr. Schnelle should infom Ms. Sather that the <br />City is willing to provide one person to supervise the project and she should <br />find volunteers capable of handling the heavy work. <br /> <br />2. Traffic on 167th Avenue NW - <br /> <br />Councilmember COx stated that citizens have been expressing concern regarding <br />the high speed traffic on 167th. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmsmber Cox and seconded by Councilmember Reimann directing <br />City Staff to prepare a resolution that would propose reducing the speed limit <br />on 167th Avenue ~ between Hwy. #47 and County Rd. ~5 to 40 m.p.h. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Heitman, Councilmsmbers Sorteberg, COx, <br />Reimann and Schlueter. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />3. Azurite Street - <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka stated that he is waiting for a response from Bill Sironen of the <br />County Highway Department regarding the County's participation in correcting <br />the grade situation on Azurite. <br /> <br />4. May 6 Landfill Ad Hoc Committee Meeting - <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that at the May 6, 1985 Landfill Committee meeting <br />there seemed to be some confusion regarding Council's direction for that <br />Committee to review the aspects of Waste Management of Minnesota's request for <br />a mining permit; that Landfill Ad Hoc Committee would like some clarification <br />on that Council motion. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman stated that he is concerned that those Council minutes of April <br />16 are in error; that he doesn't know how the motion directing the Landfill <br />Committee to review the request for a mining permit got in those minutes. <br /> <br />Councilmsmber Cox stated that he recalls the discussion leading to that motion <br />as focusing on: high cost of dumping at the landfill ($25 for covered loads <br />and $50 for uncovered loads); due to the contract for the sale of the <br />landfill that Ramsey entered into, residents are spending as much to dump as <br />Ramsey is receiving in tipping fees; that in order to get a oouple of free <br /> May 14, 1985 <br /> <br />Page 18 of 20 <br /> <br /> <br />
