A con~ittee has been formed and working
on the C~m~unity festival for about 5 weeks. Counciln~mber Cox stated that at
the June 11 Council meeting he informed Council that the Lions' were handling
the raffle and were requesting a loan of $1200+ frc~ the City with which to
purchase a boat and trailer for the raffle. Mr. Berg stated that through normal channels, that gambling
license application would have been on a Council agenda for denial or taking
it's normal course; taking it's normal course, the license would not have been
effective in time for the community festival and Councilm~nber Cox requested a
special meeting to waive the 30 days and expedite the license procedure.

Councilm~mber COx stated that any mix up as far as City Staff is concerned
came about when the check for the boat and trailer was not issued; the Lions
June 25, 1985
