CITIZEN INPUT

Project #87-4 - 161st Avenue NW and Llama Street NW

There was no citizen input regarding this proposed project area.

Project #87-5- Sorteberq's Addition

Sheila Zelazny - 7904 159th Lane - Stated that the same project was
proposed for this area last year. Her question then and now is regarding
why Mr. Sorteberg's hc~e property is not being assessed in this project
area.

Mr. Raatikka - Replied that Mr. Sorteberg's property accesses onto
Variolite and he would be assessed for improvements to Variolite based on
city policy. There is also a vacant lot in Sorteberg's Addition that is
being assessed because it fronts one of the subject streets and is a
buildable lot of record.

Sheila Zelazny - Stated that Mr. Sorteberg does have a second dirt driveway
that accesses into the project area.

Councilmember Cox - Stated that properties with two driveways onto
different streets can only be assessed for one project area and that would
be the street onto which the main driveway accesses. This policy applies
to the entire community and not just to Mr. Sorteberg.

Mr. Raatikka - Pointed out other similar situations in the city where this
policy is carried through.

Sheila Zelazny - Stated that the citizens can petition to deny the project
year after year; the city is responsible for filling cracks and holes; it
would be a cost saving for the city to take sealcoating out of the general
fund and be sure continuous crack and hole filling won't be necessary.

Councilmember Cox - Stated that in the future it is possible that the
policy regarding paying for sealcoating will be changed.

Project #87-6 - 159th Avenue NWand Dolomite Street NW

There was no citizen input regarding this proposed project area.

Project #87-7 - 158th Lane NWand Kamacite Street NW

Gary Mefford - 15920 Kamacite Street ~W- Inquired if the sealcoating life
expectancy is greater than the 3 years it takes to pay for it.

Mr. Raatikka - Replied that the sealcoating should last 5-7 years depending
on traffic amount.

Gary M~fford - Inquired at what point in the life of the original pavement
does the city have to absolutely apply sealcoating.
City Council/March 17, 1987
