Councilmember Cox stated that there is a high level of law enforcement
occuring at the weigh station; the city is obligated to prosecute these
misdemeanors; in court today, 3-4 of 10 cases were dismissed and the
balance received reduced fines; this strict enforcement to the smallest
detail is costing the city money.

Mayor Reimann noted that there was a letter from Mr. Goodrich included in
the last Council agenda that states he met with patrol officers and they
indicated only serious offenders would be tagged.

Mr. Hartley stated that he doesn't believe Mr. Goodrich was looking for
Council direction in that letter; he is making Council aware that the weigh
station is operational and the City and he have had some problems in the
past.

Councilmember Cox stated that he would like to meet with City Attorney
Goodrich regarding this subject.

ADJOURNMSNT

Motion by Coumcilmember Cox and seconded by Mayor Reimann to adjourn this
special Council meeting until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 1987.

Further Discussion: Other councilmembers expressed a desire to meet at
5:00 p.m. on Wednesday but Councilmember Cox stated he could not be present
until 6:00 p.m. After a brief discussion, Councilmember Cox remembered
that he has other obligations and cannot be present at all on May 6.

Councilmember Cox withdrew his motion to meet at 6:00 p.m. on May 6 and
Mayor Reimann withdrew his second to the motion.

Motion by Councilmember Sorteberg and seconded by Councilmember DeLuca to
adjourn this special Council meeting until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6,
1987.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox,
DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None.

The meeting adjourned at 9:42 p.m.
Respecfnlly submitted,

Sylvia Frolik
Secretary

David' Hartley
City Administrator

City Council/May 5, 1987
