Mayor Reimann stated that he has found out that there is appropriate <br />language that should be used by Council when urging the State Gambling <br />Board to deny an application for a charitable gambling license. Mayor <br />Reimann directed Mr. Goodrich to research what that appropriate language <br />is. <br /> <br />b) Public information meeting regarding landfill issues - <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley stated that County Commissioner Haas-Steffen will be conducting <br />a public informational meeting regarding landfill issues on Monday, <br />September 28, 1987 at Ramsey Municipal Center at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />c) Street lighting at 167th Avenue and Hwy. #47 - <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley stated that street lighting for 167th Avenue N.W. and Hwy. #47 <br />intersection has been ordered and will be installed soon. The barricades <br />will not be removed from around the power pole in order that the shopping <br />center and surrounding homes would not suffer a total power outage in the <br />event of an accident; that power pole will be removed with future road <br />construction. <br /> <br />d) Appointments to the Fire Safety Committee - <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley noted a memo from the Fire Safety Committee dated September 18, <br />1987 regarding their recommendations for membership. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to remove <br />Mr. Dale McKnight from and appoint Mr. Lloyd Reimann and and Jim Cordie to <br />the Fire Safety Committee. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />e) Condition of 153rd between Roanoke and Hwy. 47 - <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley noted a memo from City Engineer Raatikka dated September 22, <br />1987 confirming severe deterioration of 153rd Avenue between Roanoke Street <br />and Hwy. #47; Public Works Superintendent Mevissen indicates the chuck <br />holes will be repaired but he does not have enough manpower to repair all <br />of the cracks. <br /> <br />f) Zoning issues- <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox noted that Mr. Hickman of Plants and Things never signed <br />the agreement with the city to accomplish certain development items by <br />9/30/87 relating to his recent expansion on his property; Ms. Norris has <br />been directed to forward a letter to Mr. Hickman regarding this issue. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox noted that Ms. Norris will be filing a complaint at Anoka <br />County with regards to excessive outside storage behind Bud Sauter's <br />operation. <br /> <br />Councilmember DeLuca inquired about the tire operation across from Bud <br /> City Council/September 22, 1987 <br /> <br />Page 17 of 18 <br /> <br /> <br />
