# <br /> <br /> REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS <br /> By: Public Works Staff <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 and discussed the following six cases: <br /> <br />Case #1 2004 Street Maintenance Program <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Committee received the draft 2004 Street Maintenance Program Feasibility Study. Discussion <br />focused on 04-14 which is an overlay project which includes, single family homes, townhomes, and the <br />golf course. Unique land use mix has a significant impact on the assessments for individual benefited <br />properties. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />The Committee directed staff to research how other Cities handle similar situations, present some <br />alternative assessment possibilities and make some recommendations on policy changes. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />Case #2: Consider Establishing a Vision Clearance Triangle into City Code <br />Background: <br /> <br />At the November 18, 2003 Public Works Committee meeting, staff presented information from a <br />number of communities relating to a vision clearance triangle. The Committee was presented with an <br />ordinance based on the content of the model from River Falls, Wisconsin of which was the most <br />comprehensive of the twelve policies reviewed. Staff informed the Committee that they would bring <br />some information back for their review of different diagrams explaining how the ordinance would work <br />in different scenarios. <br /> <br />Motion to table action until the next Public Works Committee meeting. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />Case #3 Report on Shoulder Improvements to T.H. #47 and 157th Lane <br />Background: <br /> <br />Staff presented a sketch of the existing geometries at the intersection of T.H. #47 and 157th Lane and has <br />reviewed the requirements with MnDOT to determine what improvements would be necessary to <br />provide a by-pass lane for northbound traffic. It appears it would require the addition of two feet of <br />bituminous for a distance of 110 feet to bring the pavement up to standards to allow a legal by-pass <br /> <br /> <br />
