We received 103 applications and conducted seven
interviews. Staff is recommending Andrew Schreder for the position. Mr. Schreder has
completed background checks and the pre-employment physical and drug screen. With Council
approval, Staff is planning for Mr. Schreder to start working a few hours in the next couple of
weeks and be on board full-time around the 26th of January or sometime that last week.

Community Development Director Frolik reported that the Building Official had vacation
scheduled so he would like some time to train Mr. Schreder before he leaves.

Ms. Nelson added that Mr. Streich will help out with that also.

Councilmember Kurak inquired if this is one of the positions that the money from the RTC, LLC
is going for, to which Ms. Nelson replied yes.

Motion by Councilmember Kurak and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to recommend that
Council hire Andrew Schreder to the position of Building Inspector at an annual salary of
$42,952, annually (2003 rate).

Motion carried.
