Case #4: Request to End Probationary Period for Full-Time Patrol Officer Gina Wieler Assistant City Administrator Nelson reported that Gina Wieler began full-time employment with the City of Ramsey on January 6, 2003, as a Patrol Officer. A performance appraisal has been completed and Ms. Wieler has successfully completed her one-year probationary period. Police Chief Way stated that Ms. Wieler is doing a great job. She came to Ramsey from the City of Blaine, also with limited experience. She has caught on quickly and is doing a lot of extra things - such as a report on Cable, plus she will be starting the reading program at Ramsey Elementary School. Motion by Councilmember Kurak and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to recommend 'Council adopt the resolution ending the probationary period for full-time Patrol Officer Gina Wieler, effective January 6, 2004. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Cook, Kurak and Pearson. Voting No: None. Case #5: Request to End Probationary Period for Full-Time Associate Planner Amy Geisler Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that Amy Geisler began full-time employment with the City of Ramsey on June 25, 2003, as an Associate Planner. She was an intern at the City prior to that. A performance appraisal has been done and Ms. Geisler has successfully completed this probationary period. Staff recommends that the probationary period be ended for Ms. Geisler effective December 25, 2003. Community Development Director Frolik stated that Ms. Geisler is an excellent employee, very self motivated, works well with others and needs very little direction. Councihnember Kurak commented on how impressed she is with Ms. Geisler's articulation plus the way she handles herself in general. She felt Ms. Geisler is a very valuable employee. Motion by Councilmember Pearson, seconded by Councilmember Kurak to recommend City Council ending the probationary period for full-time Associate Planner Amy Geisler, effective December 25, 2003. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Cook, Pearson, and Kurak. Voting No: None. Case #6: Fire Officer Selections for Year 2004 Assistant City Administrator Nelson noted that Fire Chief Kapler was not able to attend this Committee meeting, however, if there are any questions, he will be available at the City Council meeting. The paid, on-call command positions carry a two-year term, with half the group available for application each year. She reported that at the beginning of each year, the Ramsey Fire Department designates officers.
