He <br />stated that stumps are usually burned. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe asked why the City does not require all trees to be chipped and be reapplied. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos stated this can and has been done in the City. <br /> <br />Commissioner Olds stated that he was not sure if this was in their authority to require all trees to <br />chipped and reapplied. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated this would be their authority because it is part of tree conservation. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos stated this would be something they could look at. He stated it might not be feasible to <br />be burning. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe stated if they are burning, it could kick bad things into the air such as <br />poison ivy and could cause the air quality to go down. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ostrum stated there is a double standard to this. He stated a homeowner cannot <br />burn stumps but developers can. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated that the homeowner could burn with a permit or without a permit if they <br />have a fire pit. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated they have to make sure they are not double standardizing the developers <br />by stating a homeowner can burn with a permit but a developer cannot. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Commission was to work with Community Development to see why it is not <br />feasible or to collect information as to how to encourage chipping. <br /> <br />COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />· Note: <br /> <br />Human Resource Managers Mail Message in reference to Park Commission <br />term expirations <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos reviewed the note from the Human Resource Manager <br />referencing the date of term expirations for Park Commissioners. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated that he understood that last fall he and Commissioner Johns' terms <br />would be up in October. He was asked if they would stay on the Commission until the first of <br />the year. At that time, City Council would be able to interview and place people into their <br />positions. Last week he received a letter inviting Commissioner Johns and himself to the <br />interviews for filling the Commission and they would be a part of the process. He stated the <br />letter listed whose terms would be terminating on each of the commissions. On their <br />commission, it listed Commissioners OstrUm and Rolfe.
