1661 ! Coquina Street N.W.
Ramsey, Minnesota 55303

June 2, 2003

Mr. Chris Anderson
City of R:amsey
15610 N0wthen Bird
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear Mr. Chris Anderson:

Thank you for the telephone conversation that we had on. Tuesday, May 27, 2003. You
were very helpful in providing me with the information.I was looking for regarding
Ramsey City Ordinances related to fencing and .horses.

We are relieved to know that Ramsey must approve any fence that is not made Of wood
or chain link. The homeowners at 16620 Zirconium Street have plans to place a high-
voltage electric fence on their property line that runs up against our backyard along with
many oth~:r residential homes on Coquina and Zirconium Streets. We urge the City of
Ramsey to reject any such proposal for this property.

We have young children and we strongly object to having an electrical fence running on
our property line where our children play. Electrical fences only belong on non-
residential settings. The City of Ramsey must reject any request that endangers people.

Additionally, Bruce and Karen Kunzak, the homeowners at 16620 Zirconium, have
informed the neighbors they intend to destroy the extensive stand of trees that border
their l0 acre property. The City of Ramsey is a Tree City. We, along with many of our
neighbors, oppose any effort to destroy the hundreds of Norfolk Pines that border the
property at issue here. As a Tree City, what will Ramsey do to conserve trees that these
residents seek to destroy for no purpose?

We will keep in close contact with the City of Ramsey until this matter has been resolved
in a manner that is in the best interest of the community. Please inform me when the
Community Development Committee will consider this matter. We and our neighbors
would like an opportunity for public input to this committee before any decision is made.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Bo Kleckner-Thiele and Dean Thiele

Cc: Bruce; Bacon, Environmental Specialist
Cc: James Norman, City Administrator
Cc: Sylvia Frolik, Community Development Director
Cc: David Elvig, Ramsey City Councilmember
