Councihnember Elvig stated that he would like to find some purpose for the building before they
discuss moving it. He recommended that the EDA research what the opportunities for use are at
the existing location as well as a new location.

City Administrator Nelson noted that staff has talked about using the site for community
purposes such as meetings.

Consensus was to forward the issue to the EDA to research possible uses.

3) Conceal and Carry Law

City Administrator Norman explained that the Conceal and Carry Law was discussed during a
work session on July 29th, and the City Council provided direction to City staff to begin to
incorporate niles in the Personnel Policy to prohibit employees from possessing firearms in the
work place as well as direction provided for signage in the work areas of City Hall. He noted that the League of Minnesota Cities is working on some
language changes to the law that would give cities some additional rights. He stated that he
would personally not be opposed to posting the signs.

Councihnember Strommen stated that when they previously discussed the issue it was discussed
that other cities and counties have posited signs in defiance of State law.
