Case #11: Report from the Personnel Committee <br /> <br />The Personnel Committee met on November 25, 2003 to discuss the following cases: <br /> <br />1) Consider Ending Probationary Period for Police Chief <br />The Personnel i Committee recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution #03-11-312 <br />ending the probationary period for Jim Way and granting him the status of full-time regular <br />Chief of Police'. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify the <br />recommendah0n of the Personnel Committee. <br /> <br />Motion carried.: Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Elvig, Kurak, Cook, Pearson, <br />Strommen, and', Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />2) Consider Ending Probationary Period for Human Resources Manager <br />The Personnel ~Committee recommended that thc City Council adopt Resolution #03-11-313 <br />ending the probationary period for Givonna Reed and granting her status as the full-time, regular <br />Human Resources Manager. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to ratify the <br />recoinmendati6n of the Personnel Committee. <br /> <br />Motion carrie& Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Elvig, Cook, Kurak, Pearson, <br />Strommen, andiZimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />3) Authorize Staff to Begin Recruitment Processes for New Positions <br />The Personnel :Committee recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution #03-11-314 <br />authorizing staff to begin the recruitment processes for a Patrol Officer, Building Inspector, Fire <br />Inspector, Public Works Maintenance Worker, and Information Technology Manager. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Pearson, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee. <br /> <br />Motion carried.~ Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Pearson, Kurak, Cook, Elvig, <br />Strommen, andiZimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />4) Discussion Regarding the Application Process for Boards and Commissions <br />The PersonnelI Committee recommended to proceed with the application for Boards and <br />Commissions, direct staff to put together interview questions for each of thc Boards and <br />Commissions and bring them back for consideration, and directed staff to change the <br />reapplication process back to the old policy and bring for approval. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee. ~ <br /> <br />City Council/November 25, 2003 <br /> Page 25 of 28 <br /> <br /> <br />
