6) Fire Officer Selections for Year 2004 <br />The ?ersonnel Committee recommended that the City Council accept the Fire Chief and City <br />Administrator's recommendation of Fire Department Officers for 2004. <br /> <br />Motion by C°uncilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to approve the <br />recommendatiOns of the Fire Chief and the City Administrator for the Fire Department Officers <br />for 2004. <br /> <br />Motion carried, Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Cook, Kurak, Elvig, Pearson, <br />and Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberZimmerman. <br /> <br />Case #9: Report from the Finance Committee <br /> <br />The Finance Committee met earlier this evening and discussed the following three cases: <br /> <br />1) Adopt Resolution Approving the City of Ramsey's 2005 Budget Calendar <br />The Finance Committee recommended that the City Council approve the City of Ramsey's 2005 <br />budget calendar adding a date to the calendar to review the budget at a Council work session in <br />mid to late August. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to adopt Resolution <br />#04-01-015 approving the City of Ramsey'2 2005 Budget Calendar. <br /> <br />Motion carried, Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Cook, Pearson, Elvig, Kurak, <br />and Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberZimmerman. <br /> <br />2) Authorize Various 2004 Capital Purchases <br />The Finance Committee recommended that the City Council authorize staff to proceed with the <br />purchase of the capital outlay items included in the 2004 Adopted General Fund budget. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig noted that there was significant discussion about the tree spade, which the <br />Committee approved the purchase of. <br /> <br />Councihnember Kurak stated that she would like to approve the 2004 Capital purchases with the <br />exception of the tree spade and then discuss that purchase as a separate issue. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councihnember Cook, to authorize staff to <br />proceed with the purchase of the capital outlay items included in the 2004 Adopted General Fund <br />budget with the exception of the tree spade. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Elvig, Cook, Kurak, Pearson, <br />and Strommen.: Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated that she had a concern about the tree spade, not because of the <br />item, but because of the timing. The Council had to implement a franchise fee this year and the <br /> <br />City Council/January 13, 2004 <br /> Page 20 of 24 <br /> <br /> <br />
