e) Warming house at Central Park - <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley stated that Hakanson/Anderson is preparing specifications for <br />the new building at Central Park based on the needs of organizations that <br />will utilize the facility; the specs should be presented to Council at <br />their next regular meeting. <br /> <br />Discussed resumed regarding vandalism to the temporary warming house at <br />Central Park. Council consensus was that the windows in the temporary <br />warming house at Central Park should be boarded up and the structure moved <br />to Traprock Commons Park to be used for storage purposes. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember DeLuca and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to <br />direct the Police Department to investigate vandalism at City parks and <br />take the necessary steps to correct that situation. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Counciln~_:mbers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Ms. Prall noted that RYAA is growing and she is concerned that the <br />additional needs of the organization are creating a hardship for the Public <br />Works Department. <br /> <br />d) Ramsey Clean-up Day - <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Pearson directing <br />Cty Staff to send letters of appreciation to all organizations, including <br />RYAA, Jaycees, Waste Management of Minnesota, for their cooperation in the <br />Ramsey Clean-up Day event. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Staff was directed to stress Ramsey's Keep America <br />Beautiful program in the letter. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />f) Keep America Beautiful Program - <br /> <br />Council was given a brief report on the success of the Household Hazar¢].ous <br />Waste Collection Day. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann thanked RYAA for cleaning up Central Park on Ramsey Clean-up <br />Day. Mayor Reimann noted that along with Clean-up Day ,Household <br />Hazardous Waste Collection Day, civic groups cleaning up parks and public <br />roadways and residents cleaning up their yards, the Jaycees operated a <br />recycling center at the landfill. The center is open during normal <br />landfill operating hours and accepts metals, aluminum, glass and newspaper. <br />The proceeds fr~m the recyclables are used to benefit the community. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann requested that the next regular City Council agenda include a <br />discussion with Terry Miller of the Keep America Beautiful Program and <br />County Commissioner Haas Steffen regarding a pilot curbside pickup program <br />for recyclable materials. <br /> May 3, 1988 <br /> <br />Page 10 of 11 <br /> <br /> <br />
