PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey City Council conducted a special meeting on Wednesday, May 11, 1988 at the Ramsey M~nicipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. EN I NI~3T None ~QUNCIL BUSIN~SS Case ~1: Discussions With Fire Safety Cor~nittee.:. The following members of the Fire Safety Committee were present: Dave Bawden, Gary Dirks, Willard Breu, Jim Cordie, Roger ~chels, Bill Rustad. Mr. Hartley stated that the Fire Safety Committee has been investigating the possibilityof having a volunteer fire department in Ramsey for about one year. That investigation analyzed a variety of concerns including financial feasibility, organizational structure and operational considerations of a fire department. On the adivisory question included in the April 19 special election ballot, the public clearly indicated that they wish to see a volunteer fire department established in Ramsey. Mr. Dave Bawden was present and submitted the Fire Safety Committee's proposals for Fire Department Organization (Attachment A), Fire Board Organization (Attachment B) and Proposed Schedule For Organization of the Fire Department (Attachment C). Mr. Bawden stated that the Committee is recommending that City Council adopt a basic ordinance to establish a volunteer fire department and the Fire Board would then adopt rules and regulations for operation of that department.
