platted and he was a co-worker with the president and secretary of First
Guaranty.

John Lynch - Amdover - Stated that his daughter and her husband live in the
home that was constructed on the subject property and they do not want to
live in a hostile neighborhood; inquired if there is something the city can
do to resolve the situation.

James Mann - Stated that there is no hostility felt against the people
living in the home as the situation is not their fault. To the residents
of Countryside Estates, Oulot B was supposed to be a park and they want it
left that way; somebody will have to pay for moving the house.

Kevin Brand - Stated that it wouldn't cost much to move the house to a
nearby vacant lot. Mr. Brand noted that $5800 does not seem to be a
reaslitc price for the lot; he paid $9,000 for his lot 8 years ago and the
streets were not paved at that time.

Debra Thatcher - 17555 Unicorn - Stated that she sees children playing in
the street8 daily and Countryside Estates needs a park badly. A park is
needed to keep children busy so they don't turn to other things in the
spare time.

Kevin Brand - Stated that there is no hostility towards the people that
live in the house; he is upset with the mistakes that have been made since
1972.

Peter Haack- 8860 176th - Stated that it seems ironic that when Kevin
Brand wanted to buy the lot in 1986, he was told by the city that nobody
could buy ~hat land; city staff knew at that time that it was dedicated for
park. Mr. Haack stated that when he comes home from work he has to dodge
the children playing in the streets because they don't have a place to
play; he would like to see a park in Countryside Estates. Mr. Haack
inquired if his children will have to play in the road because of this
mistake.

Kevin Brand - Stated that he was for property between May and August of
1986; he inquired at City Hall about Outlot B in June or July of 1986; he
was told he couldn't buy it.

Mayor Reimann - Stated that there may have been another Building Inspector
employed at City Hall at that time that was more familiar with the
property.

Steve Maki - Stated that there is a lot of traffic on 176th and a lot of
children play in the area.

Becky Thatcher - Stated that there also large commercial trucks using 176th
daily in order to avoid the bad curve at Cty. Rd. #63 and Baugh. Stated
that it would be cruel to move the house. But, she wants a park in
Countryside Estates because if there is a park, like the abstracts say,
homes will hold their value. Without a park, home values will go down. If
the home stays where it is and a park is placed somewhere else, who will
City Council Public Hearing/June 28, 1988
