Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, <br />Pearson and Bawden. Voting No: Councilmember DeLuca. <br /> <br />Receive City Administrator's Report On. Petition To Initia~ <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley reported that the City has received a petition that is <br />sufficient in number of signatures. The petition requests that an <br />ordinance be established prohibiting the construction of contract burning <br />facilities and any other commercial incinerators within Ramsey. Mr. <br />Hartley did note that the ordinance, as drafted, would not stand the test <br />of law. Mr. Hartley recommended that the City Attorney, City Council and <br />Stern Committee (originators of the petition) meet to discuss the intent of <br />the ordinance and review the ordinance technically and legally. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember DeLuca and seconded by Councilmember Bawden to <br />adopt Resolution #88-163A declaring the sufficiency of a petition for an <br />ordinance relating to contract buring and incincerator facilities. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Sorteberg inquired if changing the <br />wording of the proposed ordinance will void the petition. Mr. Hartley <br />replied that the STERN Committee has the right to change the wording while <br />maintaining the intent. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, <br />DeLuca, Pearson and Bawden. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember DeLuca and seconded by Mayor Reimann authorizing <br />the City Administrator to schedule a meeting with the STERN Committee, City <br />Attorney and City Council to discuss the proposed ordinance regarding <br />contract burning and incineration. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers $orteberg, <br />DeLuca, Pearson and Bawden. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Conncilmember DeLuca and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to <br />adjourn the City Council meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, <br />DeLuca, ?carson and Bawden.
