Chairperson Levine encouraged Ramsey and Anoka County to address critical ideas that will
impact the City.
Commissioner Bauer agreed and commended staff on the three comments raised regarding
transportation in and around the City of Ramsey.
There was consensus of the Commission to support the response of staff on the Metropolitan
Council Regional Transportation Policy Plan.
5.06: Review and Respond to the Metropolitan Council Regional Housing Policy Plan
Presentation
Community Development Director Gladhill presented the Staff Report stating the Metropolitan
Council was in the process of updating Regional System Plans (Water Resources, Transportation,
Parks, Housing). The Metropolitan Council has released the Regional Housing Policy Plan for
public comment. The Housing Policy was an important policy document as it relates to
Ramsey's goals and initiatives. This policy document will serve as the policy document for
many of the housing resources available to our residents and our community. Most notably, this
is an important document that frames the Livable Communities Program, a voluntary program
that Ramsey participates in that provides valuable financial resources to assist Ramsey in
achieving its land use goals. Staff reviewed the City's draft response to the Regional Housing
Policy Plan and recommended the Planning Commission adopt the draft response.
Commission Business
Motion by Commissioner Brauer, seconded by Commissioner Maul, to recommend that City
Council adopt the draft response to the Housing Policy Plan.
Further discussion
Commissioner Brauer wanted to see equity between communities in the northern and southern
suburbs.
Motion Carried.
