Mr. Hartle¥ stated that since it's adoption, Ramsey follows the guidelines <br />of the Charter and it says that a project will proceed if there is a <br />majority p~titioning for it. Burns is in a different situation; the town <br />board is not obligated to what the majority want. <br /> <br />Bruce Olson stated that he would not be in favor of going forward with the <br />project considering the amount of opposition that has been expressed. <br /> <br />Mr. Berg s~tated that Burns has a town board of 3; 2 votes would be required <br />to approve.~the project; it does not appear that the project will go forward <br />based on his and Bruce Olsons comments. <br /> <br />Mary Smith.- Enquired as to how paved roads were approved for Rustic Oaks; <br />there was Opposition to that project. <br /> <br />Dennis Berg replied that more than 80% of Rustic Oaks was in favor of paved <br />roads; als~, the assessment for that project came in at under $2,000. <br /> <br />Mary Smithi- Noted that not all of the affected residents in this project <br />are present· <br /> <br />Other members of the audience noted that most of those people not present <br />are not in favor of the project. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka noted that each year the project costs will increase at least <br />4--5% just based on inflation; oil prices affect project costs also. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Bawden and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to <br />adjourn th~ public hearing. <br /> <br />Motion cat'tied. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Pearson, Bawden <br />and DeLuca~; Burns Town Board members Berg, Olson and Koehler. Voting No: <br />None.
