CASE #4

DISCUSSION REGARDING TANKER #2
By: David Griffin, Fire Chief

Background:

The Fire Department Open House was a huge success and we appreciate all those who attended.
The City Councilmembers who attended were treated especially well with their own guided tour
upon the deparm~ent's old milk truck (or Public Work's old milk truck), which I will affectionately
refer to as Tanker #2.

Tanker #2 has;a numerous amount of problems; however, despite its cosmetics, it does have the
potential to serve the department. At this point, we do not have any alternative then to call for
mutual aid whi~never we encounter a structure fire and cannot count on the use of this vehicle.
Tanker #2, in its current state, poses a safety threat not only to its passengers but to any other
unfortunate vehicle' in its way. This could be a valuable apparatus to the department and postpone
any premature Pumhases of a new tanker.

! would like any direction to possibly resolve these problems.

Fire Board Action:

Based on discussion.

Review Checklist:

Fire Chief

FB: 11/20/91
