They are paid quarterly at a <br />rate of SS per call and drill. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS - 1991 <br /> <br />Deputy Mayor Peterson explained the appointments to commfttees are <br />made at the first Council meeting of the year. Nominations an~ <br />motions are made. If the CouncllmemDers-E]ect have a particular <br />committee they would like to serve on, they should make their <br />wishes known. The Personnel Committee meets freguently~ Roads and <br />Bridges meets quarterly or whenever needed; the Budget Committee <br />generally begins its meetings in August. <br /> <br />Deputy Mayor Peterson asked for comments on his suggestion to have <br />the Council be Involved In labor negotiations with the unions. The <br />past Council chose not to become involved. Possibly a committee <br />could be set up to do the negotiations. After some discussion, the <br />general consensus was that the Council should be directly involved <br />in the negotiations, the feeling being tt will create a better <br />relationship between the Council and City personnel. Mr. Hartley <br />stated he would then let the present negotiators know their <br />services wt]] no longer be required because the negotiations will <br />be done In-house. <br /> <br />The meeting was recessed, 7:20; reconvened at 7:22 p.m. <br /> <br />Coun¢ilmember-Elect Beyer wanted to see the non-union members <br />be made part of the union to eliminate the division that exists <br />now between the two groups. <br /> <br />AIRPORT COMMISSION <br /> <br />Deputy Mayor Peterson stated the Airport Commission has not been <br />meeting. The EPA Is coming out with new guidelines for landfill <br />sitings, and he understands airports are going to be discussed in <br />the document. This item will need to be addressed on one of the <br />first Agendas in January.
