PUBLIC FACILITY NAMING
by: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Coordinator

Case #2

Background:

The Park and Recreation Commission should recommend to City Council to adopt a formal
policy or ordinance dealing with public facility naming.

The recommendation would entail having all proposed facility names first go before this
Commission, then to the City Council for final approval. The Commissions policy would
likely include verbiage such as .... "The chosen name will generally reflect the name of
the subdivision or other significant geographical features. The name of the facility shall
appear on a sign in accordance with the City Code requirements for signs .... em".

Staff will have a draft ordinance/policy at the April meeting for the Council's review.

Review Checklist:

Acting City Administrator
City Engineer
Parks/Utilities Coordinator

Park 4/11/91
