Meeting Date: 12/09/2014 Submitted For: Dean Kapler, Fire Department By: Dean Kapler, Fire Department Information Title: Authorization of Sale of 1989 Fire Tanker Truck to the City of Nowthen Purpose/Background: The City of Ramsey has recently taken delivery of a replacement Fire Tanker. Although yet to be put into service, the estimated in-service date is mid -December. This case is a recommendation for the sale of the existing tanker truck, a 1989 Ford L9000. The City of Nowthen has been involved in informal discussions with Fire Department staff about acquiring the vehicle. Staff has obtained two quotes of value for the existing vehicle, from the Rosenbauer company and Brinnely Mountain Apparatus Sales. Both quotes gave a price range of $12,000-$15,000. Funding Source: There is no funding required for this sale. The proceeds of the sale will be used to off -set the purchase of the recently acquired new vehicle. Recommendation: Staff recommends using a mid -way point of the quotes or an amount of $13,500 for the sale of this vehicle. Action: eCouncil to authorize the sale of the 1989 Ford L9000 Tanker to the City of Nowthen for the amount of $13,500. It should be noted that the Nowthen Clty Council will be considering this sale on the same night as the Ramsey case. Staff is recommending that this case should be contingent on approval of the Nowthen City Council for purchase of the same said vehicle. Attachments No file(s) attached.
