Subd. <br /> <br />a) <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />c) <br /> <br />Parking lot instructional signs designating the conditions of use or identify of <br />parking areas shall not exceed 8 square feet and shall not project higher than 10 feet <br />in height for wall signs and 7 feet in height for ground signs, as measured from the <br />established grade of the parking area(s) to which such signs are accessory <br /> <br />3 Automobile Dealership Signs <br /> <br />Wall, Canopy or Marquee Sign. There shall not be more than one wail, canopy or marquee <br />sign for each principal building except that where the building abuts two or more streets, <br />additional such signs, one oriented to each abutting street shall be permitted. The gross <br />surface area of a wall, canopy or marquee sign shall not exceed fifteen (15%) percent of the <br />area of the building wall, including doors and windows, to which the sign is to be affixed. <br />The gross surface area of a wall, canopy or marquee sign may be increased by ten percent <br />if such wall sign: <br /> <br />consists only of individual, outlined alphabetic, numeric and/or symbolic characters <br />without background except that provided by the building surface to which the sign <br />is to be affixed; and <br /> <br />illumination, if any, is achieved through shielded illumination, shielded silhouette <br />lighting, or shielded spot lighting but not any lighting where the light source is <br />visible or exposed on the face or sides of the characters. <br /> <br />A wall, canopy or marquee sign may be located on the outermost wall of any principal <br />building but shall not project more than sixteen (16) inches from the wall to which the sign <br />is to be affixed. A wall sign shall not project higher than the parapet tine of the wall to <br />which the sign is to be affixed. <br /> <br />Primary Ground Sign. There shall not be more than one primary ground sign for each <br />automobile dealership. The gross surface area of a primary ground sign shall not exceed <br />one hundred (100) square feet for each exposed face nor exceed an aggregate gross surface <br />area of two hundred (200) squre feet. Primary ground signs may be located in any <br />required yard but shall not extend over any lot line or within fifteen (15) feet of any point of <br />vehicular access from a zoning lot to a public roadway. A primary ground sign shall not <br />project higher than 25 feet as measured from base of sign or grade of the nearest adjacent <br />roadway, whichever is lower. <br /> <br />Secondary Ground Sign. Secondary ground signs shall be permitted only if two (2) or <br />more new automotive product lines (automobile makes) are offered for sale on the <br />premises. The gross surface area of a secondary ground sign shall not exceed fifty (50) <br />square feet for each exposed face nor exceed an aggregate gross surface area of one- <br />hundred (100) square feet. SecondaD, ground signs ma3' be located in any required yard <br />but shall not extend over any lot line or within fifteen (15) feet of any point of vehicular <br />access from a zoning lot to a public roadway. A secondary ground sign shall not project <br />higher than 20 feet as measured from base of sign or grade of the nearest adjacent roadway, <br />whichever is lower. <br /> <br />Sign Ord.
