d) <br /> <br />Subd. <br /> <br />a) <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />c) <br /> <br />DirectiOnal Signs. <br /> <br />Directional or Instructional signs are restricted to on-site direction and instruction <br />and shall not exceed four square feet. Such signs shall only provide direction or <br />instruction to guide persons to facilities intended to serve the public. <br /> <br />parking lot directional signs designating parking area entrances and exits are limited <br />to one sign for each entrance and/or exit and shall not exceed four square feet for <br />each exposed face. Parking lot directional signs shall not project higher than five <br />(5) feet in height, as measured from the established grade of the parking area to <br />which such signs are accessory. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />Parking lot instructional signs designating the conditions of use or identify of <br />parking areas shall not exceed 8 square feet and shall not project higher than 10 feet <br />in height for wall signs and 7 feet in height for ground signs, as measured from the <br />established grade of the parking area(s) to which such signs are accessory <br /> <br />4 Automobile Service Station Signs <br /> <br />Wall, Canopy or Marquee Sign. There shall not be more than one (1) wall, canopy or <br />marquee sign for each principal building except that where the building abuts two or more <br />streets, iadditional such signs, one oriented to each abutting street, shall be permitted. The <br />gross surface area of a wall sign shall not exceed fifteen percent (15%) of the area of the <br />building wall to which it is to be affixed. The gross surface area of a wall, canopy or <br />marquee sign may be increased by ten (10) percent if such wall sign: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Consists only of individual, outlined alphabetic, numeric, and/or symbolic <br />characters without background except that provided by the building surface to <br />which the sign is to be affixed; and <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />illumination, if any, is achieved through shielded illumination, shielded silhouette <br />lighting, or shielded spot lighting but not any lighting were the light source is <br />visible or exposed on the face or sides of the characters. <br /> <br />A wall, canopy or marquee sign may be located on the outermost wail of any principal <br />building but shall not project more than sixteen (16) inches from the wall to which the sig-n <br />is to be affixed. A wall sign shall not project higher than the parapet line of the wall to <br />which the sign is to be affixed. <br /> <br />Ground Sign. There shall not be more than one (1) ground sign for each lot. The gross <br />area of'.a ground sign shall not exceed one hundred (100) square feet for each exposed face <br />nor exceed :an aggregate gross surface area of two hundred (200) square feet. A ground <br />sign may be located in any required yard but shall not extend over any lot line or within <br />i'ifteen (15) feet of any point of vehicular access from a zoning lot to a public roadway. A <br />groundi:sign shall not project higher than thirty (25) feet, as measured from base of sign or <br />~ade of the nearest adjacent roadway, whichever is lower. <br /> <br />Service Bay Identification Signs. Service bay identification signs providing direction or <br />instruction to persons using the facility and containing no advertising material of any kind <br />shall be subject to the following: <br /> <br />Sign Ord.
