PUBLIC HEARING <br />PLANNING AND ZONING <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Planning itnd Zoning Commission held a public hearing to hear the request to vacate Limonite <br />Street and a ~ota of 142nd Avenue N.W. in the plat of Gateway North Industrial Park; Case of <br />Ralph Willi~ on Tuesday, May 7, 1991 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen <br />Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303. <br /> <br /> [ <br /> <br />Members PreSent: <br /> <br />Chairman Gerald Zimmerman <br />Commissioner David Bawden <br />Commissioner Benjamin Deemer <br />Commissioner Terry Hendfiksen <br />Commissioner Charles LaDue <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />City Engineer Steven Jankowski <br /> <br />Members AbSent: Commissioner Michael Terry <br /> Commissioner Bradley Thomd <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chairman Zimmerman called the public hearing to order at 7:57 p.m. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br />City EngineeflJankowski stated Limonite Street N.W. and 142nd Avenue N.W. are dedicated <br />streets but are ~ot constructed. This is a proposal to vacate a portion of 142nd Avenue N.W. and <br />all of Limonil~ Street N.W. He stated that it is should be determined by the Commission if it <br />would be in th~ best public interest to vacate this property. <br /> <br />Mr. Ralph Wffiiams, Big Lake, read a letter from Mr. Don Greenberg concerning this vacation. <br />Mr. Williams 8tared when it was originally platted, the airport was a strong possibility and now the <br />airport is clO~ng.: He stated the owners are waiting to know what the City's plans are for <br />extending sermce to that area. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankowsld <br />street to contin <br />would provide <br />N.W. and LiTM <br /> <br />Mr. Williams <br />blacktopping. <br /> <br />stated that the petitioners are saying Ouflot B is 66 feet wide and is intended to be a <br />ue tO the east and connect to Sunfish Lake Boulevard N.W. The contention is that it <br />a second access to Industrial Park without needing a loop utilizing 142nd Avenue <br />mite Street N.W. <br /> <br />feels there is no need to construct the loop that is very costly, especially <br /> <br />Commissioner Hendriksen asked Mr. Williams what the incentive is to vacate; to which Mr. <br />Williams repli ~e21 it is to save money. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankows~ stated that under normal subdivision platting process, the developer is usually <br />responsible to ~ut in the streets. In this case, roads were required and the development agreement <br />states that 50.~/~: of the lots developed have been built on, then streets will be constructed.
