Blaine - Off-site real estate signs are not addressed in the code. <br /> <br />Andover - Signs under 6 square feet are not regulated but they are restricted to being placed <br />on private property only. <br /> <br />Check what other cities allow for pennants on car lots. <br /> <br />Coon Rapids - Pennants are considered a temporary sign not eligible for year around use' a <br />permit and fee are required. Flags with advertising copy on them are considered moving <br />signs and code prohibits motion signs. U.S. Flags are permissible. <br /> <br />Bloomington - Pennants are considered a temporary sign for which a permit and fee are <br />required. Flags with advertising copy on them are counted towards allowable sign space; <br />use of the U.S. Flag for advertising is considered a violation of Federal Law and <br />prohibited. <br /> <br />Elk River - Pennants are prohibited except in conjunction with a special event, holiday or <br />grand opening. Special event signs/pennants are limited to one time per year with a $50 <br />deposit that is refunded if it is removed on time. <br /> <br />Anoka - Car lots in commercial districts are allowed to have pennants and flags if they are <br />securely anchored and kept in good repair. They are considered temporary for which no <br />permit or fee is required. (Most temporary signs do not require a permit or fee in Anoka). <br /> <br />Brooklyn Park - Pennants are prohibited and it is strictly enforced. <br /> <br />Roseville - Pennants are prohibited. <br /> <br />Blaine - Pennants are considered a temporary sign for which a pen-nit and fee are required. <br /> <br />Andover - Pennants are allowed only with a special use permit (i.e., conditional use <br />permit). <br /> <br />We currently charge $50 for temporary signs and it is proposed that businesses can have 4 <br />temporary signs per year for 10 days each time. If they can have a temp sign 4 times a <br />year, this adds up to 40 days at a cost of $200 per year. A permanent sign fee is $100. Do <br />we want to reduce the temp sign fee or leave as is and use as a deterrent for temp signs and <br />an encouragement for permanent signs? I think we should revise our proposed ordinance <br />to limit temporary signs based on a total number of days per year versus how many times <br />and the length of time (4 times @ 10 days each). Also, l think we should limit the number <br />or total square footage of temporary signs that can be on a property at any one time: or <br />should we have the temporap,.' sign square footage count towards the total all'ow permanent <br />sign square footage? What are temporap:, sign regulations in other cities? <br /> <br />Coon Rapids - Temporar5, signs can only be displayed a total of 30 dab, s in a calendar year. <br />The first temporary sign permit is free; each additional sign permit is $33; this encourages <br />businesses to have one tempora~, sign per year for 30 consecutive dab, s. <br /> <br />Bloomington -Temporary signs are restricted to 4 times a year at 10 day increments. The <br />charge for a temporary sign permit is $25.00.
