and Sons, !hq, and Faye Construction Company. These ~ompanies have acquired
and asSem~ed.~property in the vicinity of the old DeZiel's Cafe. The] have
assembled that acreage for future development of a commercial nature and they
are oonce£~ed about this proposed airport. Stage I of development would
include ac~ui~ing from my clients 9.2 acres of some of the most desirable
property in Ramsey because it abuts the highway. Stage II would include
acquiring a oonsiderable amount of additional acreage belong to Schwartzman.
My clients did not buy this land to sell to Ramsey for an airport and they are
definitely ~Oncerned about their investment. In sitting here and listening to
Mr. Larsen~ I wonder hc~ I would an~er his questions. ~nere is already a
Metro Airp0~ rts (~ission in the metro area; this Co~mission and Metro Council
are well ~are of the fact that there is a need for additional small airport
facilities iH the area. The Metro Airports Con~ission has professionals that
know what is !necessary to establish an airport; let thsm select an airport site
in this ~northern area; let the~ fund it and spread the cost over the entire
metro area: If I lived in Ramsey, I would favor the method I have just
suggested. I~ would be a good idea for the City of Ramsey to work with the
Metro Airports f~ission to find a suitable airport site and if I were a
citizen I wo~.d be agreeable to my money being spent in that way. I understand
frc~ ~ior.. meetings that this Commission has been instructed not to look at any
other sites in Ra~sey. My guess is that if the Metro Airports Commissioner
were to ~e out and look around Ramsey, they would not select the site the
existing site for an airport. Fourteen families would be dispositioned in
Stage I of!'develo~ment; the Gateway site is in a relatively congested area and
I don't ~onsl4er it a 'cornfield' area at all. This is an area where land
costs willl a~ount to a lot of money; land acquisition would not cost so much in
the nort/~est corner of the City. There really isn't any room for expansion at
the Gateway site; the Gateway facility would be a minim~ facility so small
that it womld not have FAA's complete blessing. I would select a site suitable
for expa~on with less congestion and lower land costs. My clients urge this
Co~missio~ to vote this airport project down and to recommend that City Council
not prooee~ with it.

Chairman Ippe! - The Metro Council, Metzo Airports Co~x~ission, State Department
of TranspoKtat/on Aeronautical Division and FAA have all been very much a part
of what has be~n happening in Ramseys airport master plan study. The State is
picking up 180%! of the cost of this study. If FAA does not give this airport
it's blessing, there will be no airport. I think Ramsey can afford the airport
with State i a~d Federal participation; without their participation, it would not
be feasible, i Would you rather have this airport issue under the control of
Ramsey and !it's citizens or would you rather have it handled like past issues,
i.e., hazardouS waste storage, incinerators, etc. and have Metro Council ram it
down our throats.

Brenda Laska - 7531 152nd Lane ~ - I live across the street from the airport
and our ho~e almost got hit. Who would buy a home close to an airport? If we
wanted to live by an airport we would have moved to Bloomington or Crystal. If
Ramsey has So much money, why don' t we spend it on our parks - our parks are a
joke. We drive a lot of miles each day to be able to live in Ramsey and bring
our children up in a rural atmosphere

Ramona O'Donnell - 7300 150th Lane ~ - I live in the proposed safety zone; the
house 150' ~aY from me would be acquired and their proble~ would be solved but
August 21, 1985

Page8 oil4
