I
I
!
I
I
I
I
!
I
i
I
!
I
I
!
i
i
I

~istorical/Archeotogical Resources

the Minnesota Historical Society reviewed the site tn A~rtl 1982 and
rated that no known sites of historic, archaeological culture or
mrchitectural significance are located within the proposed project.
See attached letter.) No additional analysis of this issue will be
~nciuded in the EIS.

transportation

Traffic to and from the project site will use TH 169 along the west-
ern edge of the existing landfill. Traffic will reach TH 169 via
Co. Rds. 1 and 62 and 1-494.

fThe EIS will evaluate the projected volume of traffic, the types of
vehicles and peak periods of vehicular activity that might be gener-
ated by the project during its active life. The impact of the pro-
jected traffic on the capacity and safety of the existing and pro-
,posed roadway system will be analyzed. Traffic from existing and
~future development in the surrounding area that will use the local
~and rcgional roadway network will be considered in evaluating the
~impact of the project. The applicant will provide estimates of th~
~type and volume of traffic which could be generated by the project.
!These estimates'and underlying assumptions will be evaluated for the
~purposes of the EIS.

iA letter has been received from the Minnesota Department of Trans-
~portation {Mn/uOT} stating the proposed project will not adversely
impact Mn/DOT transportation systems (TH 169). (See attached copy.)
~According to Mn/DOT engineers in the Golden Valley District Office,
this conclusion is based on the estimated vehicular volumes, and
loadings associated With the project. The EIS v:ill provide a brief
, evaluation of the data and analysis supporting this conclusion.

i Mitigation measures that minimize the potential impacts on highway
~ capacity and safety will be discussed.

~ Revenue and Emoloyment

' The EIS will examine the employment opportunities which might be pro-
, duced during the construction and operation of the proposed landfill
~ expansion. The EIS will also indicate the costs of the project and
any potential revenues from fees, or other sources which might be pro-
duced from the development or operation of the project.

~ Costs

~ The projec{ is located in an area proposed by the City of Eden
i Prairie to be served by public sewer and water. There are no ime-
diane plans to sewer the site. The site is presently served by pri-
: vate wells and on-site sanitary waste disposal systems. These are
~ adequate to serve the expansion area. the applicant would be respon-
sible for any necessary improvements in these facilities.
