I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I CASE # 5 REQUEST FOR CONNECTION TO EXISTING CITY WATERMAIN ALONG COUNTY ROAD #5; CASE OF ANNA BOE By: Steven Jankowski, City Engineer Background: In coniunction wit ~ the trunk watermain extensions to service the Wood Pond projects, watermah~ was e~tend~gt,,al01 .g the west side of County Road #5 past the property of Mrs. Anna Boe who resides at 145~0 l~ owtben Boulevard N.W. At the present time, sanitary sewer is not available to the property. ~Mm. Boe has indicated that she would like to connect to'the existing watermain. Although it has b~en general policy to require connection to both municipal sewer and water, I believe that this P ,a~ticular situation should be considered for excePtion. Extension of sewer service to the pr0pe~rty w~uld need to be financed by the City and it is probable that the long term use of this property ~nay tbe something other than a single family home site. Consequently, the parcel may ultimal~eiy b~ served in some other manner than by the design used to serve the existing residence. Thl~ undue aspect of the extension was discussed by the Budget Comrmttee on October 6, 1992 and file C~mmittee was in agreement with allowing this exception. The Committee also recommended that~ an agreement be prepared which would define the terms of a connection and provide for a icottection of watermain u-unk fees and a payment to compensate for the lateral benefit. Such~an ,~greement has been prepared which specifies the collection of standard water trunk charges~ and water availability charges (W.A.C.). The Budget Committee specifically requested thati'thisi agreement provide for the collection of additional water trunk charges in the event that a ra0re:ihtensive land use is made of the property in the future. Such wording has been incorporated irlto tlj, e agreement. Following the execution of the enclosed agreement, Mrs. Boe will be hooked up to the City system. This hook! up will require a tap of the watermain and setting of the curb box. The cost for this work sho ld tie under $300 This work will, be as a · ~, .~ . . . . however, treated public improvement project. A public tl. eanng w~ll be scheduled on th~s project and subsequent to the public hearing an assessed reSOlUtion/will be adopted.
