September 29, 1992
Start Peichel

I think vou would a=m-ee that school systems and facilities are an important facet of providing
identity'and ownership within a community. While I empathize with the position of efficient
utiliza{ion of resources, the communw,' of I;,.amsev appears to have cause for concern relative to
expenditure of school district resources within' this community. Hence, I would like the
opportunity to propose to you, and other school district decision m',iers, an expansion of Ramsey
Elementary School or planning for the future siting of an additional school resource within this
community. It should be noted, as I have alluded to above, that since the rapid growth in our
communitT will be on properties surrounding the elementary school, it seems inappropriate to settle
for a system of busing students to another community when they live within view of the
communip,,'s school resource.

You mentioned that the school district has recent].',, gained the services of a landscape architect. We
are currently reviewing our Five Year Capital Improvement Program for the years 1994 through
1998. I certainly would appreciate the opportunity to have our park people work with you and this
individu',d on reviewing improvements to the communi~, play field at Ramsey ElementaD' School.

Finally, on the issue of trails, vou mentioned that you had a concern that trails leading to the
elementary school be constructed in such a manner as to allow for safe passage of your student
population. I believe you have concern for lighting and probably lack of visibility of the proposed
trail from adjacent neighborhoods. We would be happy to work with you on this issue, but are
concerned about the long-range operating and maintenance costs of a i:rail system that includes
lighting satisfactory to your concerns.

Stan, thanks once again for stopping by. I believe there are many opportunities for the school
system and the City of Ramsev to work to~ether towards the betterment of this community. I look
~orv.'ard to working with you over the next several yea. rs.

Sincerely,

CITY OF rR. ARvlSEY

Rvan R.
