Priority arterial <br />su'eet tightinll c°fisists of lights placed at key intersections and other priority locations within the <br />City. The ahlef I~nefit from this type of lighting shall be for improving safety at the intersection <br />and as a navigatio~i aid to motorists. Because, of the general nature of the benefits from this type of <br />lighting, it sh~ll b~ financed through the City s general fund. <br /> <br />Subd~ws~on l!ght~g is the second classfficauon of street hghung. The major benefits from this <br />type of light[ng$s increased pedestrian safety, particularly in areas without sidewalks, and <br />increased crime ~revention. These benefits occur chiefly to residents of the subdivision, who <br />should be irtv~olv ~{~1 both in the decision to provide such street lighting and the financing of the <br />system. : ; <br /> <br />priority Arterial ~gtreet L~ghnng: Priority arterial street lighting locations shall be limited to <br />interse-c[ion~ itt state trunk-highWays, county roads and arterial city streets. Sequential priority <br />levels shallr ~ es~tablished which shall generally utilize traffic volumes as the chief criteria. <br />However, Orth~r criteria affecting priority shall include a) high frequency of nighttime accidents; b) <br />marked Pexleiltria/~ crossings at schools and parks; and c) unusual sight limitations; The City <br />Engineering ~[ncl ~olice Departments shall jointly establish, maintain and periodicall) review the <br />priority loc:/fi~ns l~sted below: <br /> Priority A ~ Very Much Needed <br /> <br /> Co.
