Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #92-02- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION URGING THE EXPANSION OF THE FEDERAL LAND AND <br />WATER CONSERVATION FUND PROGRAM <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Federal Land and Water Conservation (LAWCON) Fund Program has <br />provided greatly needed grant assistance for local government and State outdoor recreation and <br />open space projects; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in Minnesota almost $57 million in LAWCON funds have been provided for <br />over 1,100 projects in ever3, county and hundreds of cities and townships throughout the State; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the program, supported by revenues from offshore oil leases and the sale of <br />surplus Federal property, does not cost additional tax dollars and has left an important legacy for <br />future generations; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in recent years the allocations available to local governments have been <br />drastically reduced while the needs have remained as great as ever. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />t) <br /> <br />That the Ramsey City Council urges the increase in the allocation 'of LAWCON funds for <br />local government and State park projects to help provide adequate outdoor recreation <br />opportunities, acquire and protect open space areas and improve the quality of life for <br />present and future generations. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councitmember <br /> and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this <br />the 25th day of February, t992. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br />City Administrator <br /> <br /> <br />
