CASE #1 <br /> <br /> iBU$1NESS APPRECIATION DAY GOLF TOURNAMENT <br /> By: James Gromberg, Project Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As in the p~t, ,t~he Economic Development Commission and the Anoka Area Chamber of <br />Commerce will b~ sponsoring the Annual Ramsey Business Appreciation Day at Rum River Hills <br />Golf Course. !Their event this year has been scheduled for August 28, 1992. At this time the EDC <br />needs to begi$ planning for certain things that will happen in conjunction with the golf outing: <br /> <br /> 1. RecrUit donations for door prizes. <br /> 2. Recruit .buSinesses and people to participate in the golf tournament and subsequent banquet. <br /> 3. Aequ'.,ffe a ~peaker for the banquet. <br />Each of th¢$e~tasl~s has many details that will also need to be managed in the near future. Right <br />now, the ED~ wil~ need to develop or assign general tasks to its members on the Commission or <br />assign the tasks tOithe Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce. We should also be looking at the total <br />cost of orche~rrlgjng this event. If additional funds are required, the EDC should consult the <br />Ramsey City'CoU~cil as to the required funds. The Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce has agreed <br />to provide th.~ ch~ck writing responsibilities, the accounting functions and the receipt of the <br />applications fpr p~u'ficipation in the golf outing and banquet. Mr. Turok from the Anoka Area <br />Chamber of (2?~erce was unable to attend this meeting of the EDC, but he has informed me by <br />phone that ve~ shc~uld feel free to assign whatever tasks we deem necessary to the Anoka Area <br />Chamber to CtmPl~te and they will happily provide those services. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />The EDC shOUld ~sign a subcommittee to Business Appreciation Day and assign specific tasks to <br />the EDC membe~ ~r the Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce. <br />We should alsb co~sider a time line with deadlines to complete certain components of the program <br />including the ~nail~ng to area businesses, the deadline for receipt of applications to participate, <br />finding a spewer ifor the banquet, menu planning and setting costs for different parts of the <br />program. <br /> <br />I would also r ~,¢o~mend that Darryl Fults be made chairperson of this subcommittee, as he has <br />displayed a kn~ ~ck for the successful planning of this event the last couple of years. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: ~ <br /> <br />City Administrator ~ <br />Project Manag~ <br /> <br />EDC:06-10-92 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
