Jaycees are Girl Scouts, ~mffiitted to future growth and prosperity; Ramsey teens, 4-H Clubs, Boy Scouts, ab~couts, a well-rounded assortment of programs for children of all ages. While outsid~ aqtivities are important, there is no substitute for quality education, and life in Ramsey inclu!e~ia: i wealth of educational choices, all widely acclaimed as among the best in the State of Mian~s°ta. Ramsey is part of School District #11, the second largest in the State. Post high school e~lu~ational options include the following: Anoka Vocational Technical Institute, located along!th~ southern border of Ramsey, has 2,500 daytime and 6,000 evening students. Since 1967 this ilinstitute has offered a range of programs from commercial baking to auto mechanics. It'ks th, e only vo-tech school in the country to have a fully accredited aviation program. Plus, it offerslcul;tomized seminars and workshops to area businesses which can be taught on campus or at' ~>u~ness and industrial sites. Anoka-Ramsey Community College, located three miles from R~y, is part of an 18-member, community college program across the State. The 2,000 full-tim~ students earn an Associate Arts Degree which transfers to any State College or University. e Urriculum includes a series of vocational courses. In the Twin Cities Metro Area, studentslma~¥ attend the University of Minnesota, one of the nation's largest universities with over 40,000 full-fi~e students, or select fi.om many other State or private colleges across the State. In addition to iheiifine educational opportunities for students and adults, Ramsey provides many valuable servi~esi~to its residents. Ramsey Medical Center and Ramsey Clinic are only minutes away with ' ~ ~n~ an~d out-patient care as well as routine diagnostic services. For outstanding emergency car~, Mercy Medical Center is in nearby Coon Rapids. Plus, the nationally recognized services of theiU'rliversity of Minnesota Hospitals are close by, providing an array of specialized critical care P~grgms. Ramsey has its own police force, with back-up assistance provided by the County Sherif~s Department. Fire protection is contracted with both the Anoka and Elk River fire fighters to guar~n~¢ prompt service for all Ramsey residents.
