CASE #! .APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS AND ELECTION F CHAIRPERSON AND A VICE-CHAIRPERSON By: James Gromberg, Project Manager Background: Each year in a,o~dance with the By-Laws of the Ramsey Economic Development Commission (EDC), the Cow. n~ion, at its first meeting of the year, is required to appoint a chairperson and a vice-chairperso' .~ ~r!a term of one year. The EDC is also required to make recommendation to City' Council as to the ~.@ssible reappointment of any commission members whose terms will expire during the caledda~ ~(ear. For 1992, this would affect Commissioner Sue Thorson whose term will expire Januaryli31"'g i1992. The other Commissioner's position that expires January 31, 1992 is currently vacan~ w!!h applications being accepted. Observationg: When selectin£ a, Chairperson, the EDC should consider both the past attendance and the involvement of~h~ member proposed to be elected chairperson; the same is true of the election of the v~ce-ch~sa~i. Recommenda~tiop: It is the recomr~en~ tion of City Staff that the EDC open the floor for nominations for chairperson, call for a motioi~ a~d then by roll-call vote, elect both the chairperson and the vice-chairperson.
