Highligl~ts & Comments <br /> <br />* There is an emphasis on the expansion of preschool classes because of the <br />~igh preschool population. The preschool program received a lot of <br />registration in the Winter/Spring. More classes are being plntmed for next <br />yem'. <br /> <br />*There have been 7 specinl needs c!~ildren integrated into o~r classes. Foar <br />were physically handicapped, 2 menl~aily handicapped, 1 he~rmg impaired <br />(an interpreter w~s provided) <br /> <br />*The 4th grade elementm"y st~ff worked with cornm~mity school to develop <br />curriculum for the n~ing and care of'trees. We provided them with a <br />gues~ speaker who explnined about the care of tree~ and then the trees were <br />given to the s~dents. <br /> <br />*F, nroLlment was high in safety classes, self awareness classes, such as <br />Babysit"tin~ Home Alone, et%. <br /> <br />*Birthday Club enabled children to get their nnme on the school board in the <br />front of school. Plus students received special classroom recognition from <br />their teacher and classmates. The principal n~ounced it at the end of the <br />day. <br /> <br />*San~ Brunch was expanded to include 2 adult craft classes and youth choir <br />as well as the workshop, rolls, and of course, Sant~. <br /> <br />*Worked cooperatively with AnoKa Senior High School in ob.tni~ing <br />volunteers, from the Key Club, for our special events, such as, Sant~ Brunch, <br />H~ttoween P~, eta Also used volunteer teens from the Study Buddy to <br />help tutor children in spellin~ math, et~. <br /> <br />*Cabin fever can come upon us in the spring. To give people a place ~o go, the <br />g~ms were available for teens, adults, and fnmJlies. <br /> <br />*The Anoka High School B~sketball Tenrn visited ou~ Basketball progrnm <br />right after they had won the State Championship. The students were very <br />excited about the oppor~t~ity to ask questions and receive hands on <br />basket2~:i1 tips. <br /> <br />*A sm-vey of community school classes was given to p~rents of students who <br />participated in classes.
