III. <br /> <br />Respect current resource levels/limitations; i.e., staffing, <br />equipment, etc. <br /> <br />Willingness to listen and be flexible. <br /> <br />Commitment of time. <br /> <br />Provision of a long-term vision for the city. <br /> <br />An expressed appreciation for all staff or the offering of <br />constructive criticism when appropriate. <br /> <br />R~COMMENDATIONS FOR FOLLOW-UP <br /> <br /> Adoption of the Goals as an Official Policy Statement by Council. <br /> <br />Council and the management team should, review the seven proposed <br />goals and ensure that the wording reflects the intent of council in these <br />goal statements. Once the goal statements are finalized, they should be <br />adopted by Resolution as an official policy statement of the council as to <br />its leadership goals for the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Preparation of Management Action Plans (MAPs) for Implementation of <br />the Goals. <br /> <br /> On pages 23-24 of the participant workbook, a 12-step Strategic <br />=Leadership and Goal-Setting Process is presented~ Step number 8 of this <br />i procesg calls for the establishment of Management Action Plans designed <br />I to ensure achievement of the community's goals in a systematic manner <br />!through carefully crafted operating programs and priorities. These <br />iManagement Action Plans should also include proposed annualized <br />iperformance objectives to be achieved by the management team and <br />iguidance as to revenue and resource allocation policies and requirements <br />needed to achieve these objectives and the goals. (Step 6 of the Strategic <br />!Leadership and Goal-Setting Process.) <br /> <br />!Sharing of the Management Action Plans (MAPs) Between Council and <br />[Staff. <br /> <br />~Once the Management Action Plans have been developed by the <br />!~management team, there should be a thorough discussion of them by <br />'Council and staff to ensure that all parties understand what is going to be <br />!done in support of the goals and to validate that these proposed <br />,Management Action Plans are consistent with the leadership intent of the <br />~ity Council relative to the seven goals. <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br /> <br />
