12.21 Inability to perform position duties by reason of <br /> illness or injury. <br /> <br />12.22 Necessity for acute medical or dental care. <br /> <br />12.23 <br /> <br />Exposure to contagious disease under circumstances <br />in which attendance on duty would expose other employees <br />or members of the public. <br /> <br />12.24 <br /> <br />Illness to the.immediate family for such period as <br />necessary subject to certification by medical authority. <br />The term "immediate family" shall be limited to <br />spouse, children, or parent where the parent has no <br />other person available to provide necessary domestic <br />care and who lives in the household of the employee. <br /> <br />Sick leave usage shall be subject to approval and verification <br />by the employer and the employee may be required to furnish a <br />report from a recognized physical or mental health authority <br />selected by the Employer attesting to the necessity of the leave <br />and' such other information as the Employer deems necessary to <br />establish the employee's fitness for employment. <br /> <br />12.3 Sick leave benefits shall be paid at the employee's current pay rate. <br /> <br />12.4 <br /> <br />To be eligible for sick leave payment, the employee shall notify <br />his designated supervisor as soon as possible, but in any event <br />prior tO the starting time of his scheduled shift. The notice requirement <br />may be waived if the Employer determines that th~ employee could not <br />reasonably be expected to comply because of circumstances beyond <br />the control of the employee. <br /> <br />12.5 <br /> <br />When the Employer has evidence that an employee's absence from <br />duty is unnecessary or if the employee fails to undergo requested <br />physical or mental evaluations or to furnish reports regarding <br />absence from duty as requested by the Employer, the Employer shall <br />have the right to require the employee to return to work on a specified <br />date. If the employee does not return to work on such specified <br />date, it will be considered that the employee has resigned. <br /> <br />SECTION XIII. VACATIONS <br /> <br />13.1 Vacation shall be earned by permanent full-time employees based <br /> on length of employment according to the following schedule: <br /> <br />-5- <br /> <br /> <br />
