CO~,ENTS & PROPOSED CHANGES TO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
PRELIHINA~Y-C[ASSIFICATIONS OF 'SHORELANDS IN RAMSEY, MIflHE'SOIFA

I.D. #2-104 - Rogers Lake

This shoreland is located in the northeast corner of the City which is not
scheduled to have municipal utilities. Therefore, the City agrees with the
preliminary classification of a natural environment water.

I.D. #2-109 - Eddy Lake and I'.D. #2-110 - Lake Itasca

Both of these shorelands are in the western part of the City and presently
undeveloped. This area is not scheduled for municipal utilities in the near
future. Therefore, the City agrees with the preliminary classification of
natural environment waters.

I.D. #2-111 - Je~lens Marsh

This shoreland is located north of the Greenland Hills and Greenland Hills Plat
2. The lots in these plats, which abutt on the shoreland, are consistent with
recreational development waters lot standards of one'acre for unsewered area.

I
I
I
I

If the Department of Natural Resource's preliminary classification of natural
environment waters is maintained, the lots abutting the shoreland could not be
subdivided at a later date as originally planned. The City's ordinances
currently require building on only one-half of a lot to allow for future
subdivision. In addition, the projected flows in both the City's Comprehensive
Storm Drainage Plan and Sanitary Sewer Plan are based on the future subdivison
of one-acre lots.

The Comprehensive Drainage Plan proposes to utilize this wetland as a retention
pond with an outlet to the Mississippi River.

In review of aerial photographs and the area in general, this wetland does not
have standing water for long periods of time; therefore, the City requests this
wetland be deleted from the list of shorelands.

I.D. #2-112 - Pond in PeltZer Addition

m

This proposed shoreland is located just outside the City's Urban Area in the
Peltzer Addition.

!
m
m

As in the case of the Jeglens Marsh, it is surrounded by one-acre lots which
are proposed for resubdivision at the time muniCipal utilities are installed.
This shoreland is also proposed to be maintained as a retention pond in the
City's Comprehensive Drainage Plan.

To be consis:ent with existing development, the City requests that this
shoreland be reclassified as recreational development waters.
