He would like to see the Commission <br />Join this organization. It would cost $650 per year. MATCA is ~anning a <br />Minnesota Conference for the end of 3anaury. Then the Quad Cities would not <br />have to plan a conference. Don 3acobson questioned their services. Thomas <br />Creighton explained that they were a communication network. They would have: <br />1) a quarterly magazine, 2) monthly newsletter, 3) 1st Alert - when need <br />arises for immediate response for legislation, 4) workshops, 5) speakers and <br />6) two smaller conference throughout the year. Ben Deemer moved to have the <br />Commission Joint MACTA, John Beissel seconded. All voted in favor, motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />Chair Hartman wondered if the Commissioners should be paid for all meetings <br />rather than only Commission meetings. Don Melrose stated that if the meetings <br />were during the day that Commissioners like Jerry Dulgar would be paid by the <br />City and shouldn't receive per diem also. Jerry Dulgar was concerned about <br />Commissioners who are self employed or working for a company and have to take <br />vacation for these meetings. The Commission decided to let the meetings go for <br />a while without pay and see how it goes. If the meeting includes a meal the <br />Commission will pay for this. <br /> <br />Concerning Institutional Network Terry O'Connell said that the system is activated <br />and will be completed by the end of the week. Mr. O'Connell showed the Commission <br />a modulator and pointed out that these are portable if one needs to be moved. <br />Chair Rartm-n :~abled Institutional ~etwork until the Commission has reports <br />and ~ore hformation. Chair hrtmanwill contact Dr. Finch. <br /> <br />Terry O'Connell distributed a report om Anoka's marketing by Group W. Mr. O'Connell <br />said that the Disney Channel will be available Pec-mber 1. Ben Deemer wondered <br />if the two easement problems had been resQlved.
