The Prescription Drug Take Back addresses a vital public safety and
public health issue. More than seven million Americans currently
abuse prescription drugs, according to the 2009 Substance Abuse and
Mental Health Services Administration's National Survey on Drug Use
and Health. Each day, approximately, 2,500 teens use prescription
drugs to get high for the first time according to the Partnership for a
Drug Free America. Studies show that a majority of abused prescrip-
tion drugs are obtained from family and friends, including the home
medicine cabinet.
To date, the Anoka County Sheriffs Office, along with its law enforce-
ment partners, collected over 7,000 pounds of unwanted prescription
drugs and safely disposed of them.
The goal of the Prescription Drug Take Back is to provide a conven-
ient drop off location for the public to dispose of unwanted or unused
prescription drugs.
Due to the public response and the on -going issues surrounding pre-
scription drug abuse, the Anoka County Sheriffs Office, along with its
law enforcement partners, provides an on -going Prescription Drug
Take Back Program.
The Prescription Drug Take Back will accept unwanted prescription
drugs from non - commercial, residential users only. No syringes, nee-
dles, or other hazardous materials will be accepted. Participation in
the Prescription Drug Take Back is free and anonymous; all prescrip-
tions will be disposed of with "no questions asked."
DROP OFF LOCATIONS:
Anoka County Sheriff's Office
13301 Hanson Blvd. NE
Andover, MN 55304
763 - 323 -5000 Hours: 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.
Blaine Police Department
10801 Town Square Drive NE
Blaine, MN 55449
763 - 785 -6168 Hours: 7:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.
Centennial Lakes Police Department
54 North Road
Circle Pines, MN 55014
763 - 784 -2501 Hours: 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.
Columbia Heights Police Department
825 41st Avenue NE
Columbia Heights, MN 55421
763 - 706 -8100 Hours: 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.
Fridley Police Department
6431 University Avenue NE
Fridley, MN 55432
763 -572 -3629 Hours: 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.
Ramsey Police Department
7550 Sunwood Drive NW
Ramsey, MN 55303
763 - 427 -6812 Hours: 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.
St. Francis Police Department
4058 St. Francis Blvd. NW
St. Francis, MN 55070
763 - 753 -1264 Hours: 6:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.
SHERIFF ALICE tl POLICE 1
,4n. I2AA -1SEY.
CDIINTY CENTENNIAL
LRXES
RANS'" l I1I'. i 45 ! i It It M ,"/I 41 /1 41
