The Partnership went through a thorough strategic planning process which <br />resulted in an action plan that will guide the ACEDP for a 3-5 year period. <br />The plan dated October 1985 is entitled, "Focus for the Future: A <br />Strategic Plan 1986-1990." This plan provides the Partnership with a <br />focused approach to economic development. <br /> <br />1985- ! 986 activities included: <br /> <br />The Anoka Co. unty Economic Development Partnership contacted NCR <br />Comten about constructing thetr proposed 15 million dollar computer <br />assembly facility in Anoka County. After showing NCR several sites in the <br />area, an Introduction was set up by the Partnership between the C1Ly of <br />Blaine and NCR Comten. The Partnership continued to work with the City <br />of Blaine in an effort to become the location for this 1,000 job facility. <br />NCR Comten considered many sites In both Minnesota and other states. In <br />May 1996 the City of Blaine was informed that it had been selected as the <br />site for the new facility. Construction will begin in October 1986 on a 6.5 <br />acre site located at the intersection of 35W and Lexington Avenue North. <br />NCR Comten will serve as the anchor/nucleus of a 600 acre master- <br />planned Industrial park proposed by the City of Blaine for that area. <br /> <br />Minnesota Medical Enterprise Park (MMEP) <br /> <br />During the strategic planning process it was noted that the medical <br />industry was the fastest growing industry in the state of Minnesota. <br />Currently It is the ~2 employer In the state and expected to be ~1 by the <br />year 1990. We also noted that Anoka County has a strong medical industry <br />base with Medtronlcs, Empi, Endotronics, and Health Central Inc., all <br />located here. Presently there is no geographical center within the state <br />for this growth to take place. In response to this the Partnership has <br />developed a project we call the Minnesota Medical Enterprise Park that is <br />designed to make Anoka County a focal point for the growth of the medical <br />industry In the State of Minnesota. This park will have as its nucleus a <br /> <br /> <br />
