Councilmember Cox about the matter and he suggested that since the city is in <br />the process of preparing the budget, options and funding methods for such a <br />position be submitted to the budget committee for consideration. <br /> <br />Mr. Fults stated that he feels the concept is very good but the person should <br />work with realtors and not eliminate the need for realtors. <br /> <br />Mr. Ippel stated that he expects the position would be a competitive one; this <br />Economic Development Company now has the opportunity to let Council know what <br />is needed to get the job done. <br /> <br />Mr. Fults stated that Council action regarding EDC's request for an opinion of <br />whether or not landfill funds are available for economic development uses was <br />that EDC prepare a list of needs and required funds to be reviewed for <br />inclusion in the City's budget. <br /> <br />Company consensus was that any budget recommendations to City Council would be <br />more appropriate coming from an advisory body -- the Economic Development <br />Commission. <br /> <br />~ Info;mation Regarding Goal Setting/Strategic Planning Workshop; <br /> <br />Mr. Hardin stated that he and Ms. Norris met with John Vinton of Government <br />Training Service who will do Ramsey's strategic planning process for $350 plus <br />travel expenses ($.21/mile). <br /> <br />Consensus was to direct Ms. Norris to schedule a strategic planning session <br />with John Vinton for a Thursday evening. <br /> <br />Brief discussion ensued regarding the possibility of Altron expanding and it <br />was determined that a letter should be forwarded stating Ramsey's desire to <br />have Altron continue their operation in Ramsey and what needs they have that <br />the City could assist in. <br /> <br />Discussion Regarding The Following Ouestions - Who is the Ramsey <br /> Economic Development Company. What Role Does It WaDt TO Play, <br /> Where Is It Going. How Does It Get There; <br /> <br />Mr. Fults stated that there is a real need for a clearly stated policy <br />regarding the Company's roles and what assistance and numbers are available. <br /> <br />Mr. Fults and Mr. Hardin volunteered to meet with any incoming or relocating <br />business leads in a public relations capacity. <br /> <br />Any further discussion and action was tabled until after the strategic planning <br />process has been completed. <br /> <br />Update On Stock Solicitation Mailing: <br /> <br />Mr. Hardin stated that a letter soliciting the purchase of Company stock was <br />issued; those letters should now be followed up by telephone. <br /> <br />~ Update On I~p~mation Packet: <br /> September 4, 1986 <br /> <br />Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
