Mr. Fournier stated that New Brighton does not have an economic development <br />corporation and he senses that it is time to establish same; the economic <br />commission is a beaurocratic level and in order for things to happen, there <br />needs to be a body with authority and resources. <br /> <br />Subcommittee Reports: <br /> <br />No report at this time. <br /> <br />B. promotional-- <br /> <br />i. Stock Sales -- <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner stated that 3 response to the mailing regarding stock sales were <br />received. <br /> <br />Mr. Hardin stated that company members will make phone contact to those <br />that have not responded to the stock sale. <br /> <br />ii. Business Liaison -- <br /> <br />Mr. Hardin stated that he and Ms. Norris met with Mr. Fournier and Mr. <br />Kummala. Mr. Muller stated that Mr. Kytonen is interested in a new <br />building or the old Dickenson building and will be meeting with Darryl <br />Fults. Mr. Hardin stated that he would follow up on Mr. Kytonen's case. <br />Mr. Hardin stated that he also wrote to A1 Phillips regarding the possible <br />expansion of Altron. <br /> <br />iii. News Articles -- <br /> <br />Mr. Hardin stated that he is working on an article for the newsletter. <br /> <br />Discussion Re~arding Goal Setting/Strategic Plannin_~ <br /> <br />The company proceeded to discuss one of the goals -- extension of sewer and <br />water. <br /> <br />Mr. Alsdurf stated that many business owners in the industrial area were told <br />that sewer and water would not be coming; as a result they invested a lot of <br />money for on-site systems; some of those property owners are upset and <br />justifiably so. <br /> <br />Mr. Hardin stated that it might be good for the company and commission to <br />conduct a joint planning session with City Council.
