Ramsey. The pr..o~edure~ to be followed is that City Council must designate a
destination point in Kamsey, notify MN DoT and request destination signs.
That destination point is usually a crossroads at a geographic or activity
center.

Mr. Hardin noted that he talked with the Postmaster regarding Ramsey being
assigned it's own zip code. Council has taken action to get that
assignment.

Discussion ensued regarding an appropriate location in Ramsey to be
designated as Ramsey's destination point.

Motion by Mr. Paudio and seconded by Mr. Muller to recommend that City
Council adopt a resolution declaring and requesting that MN DoT recognize
the intersection of County Rd. #56 and Hwy. #10 N.W. as Ramsey's
destination point and that destination signs be posted accordingly.

Further Discussion: Mr. Raudio stated that the basis for his motion is
that Hwy. #10 is a major thoroughfare and is being targeted for development
activity. Mr. Kurak stated that there may be a very minimal charge for
posting of the destination signs. Mr. DeLuca stated that any cost factor
would be dissolved by the awareness of Ramsey the signs would create.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mr. Hardin, Mr. DeLuca, Mr. Kurak, Mr.
Greenberg, Mr. Raudio, Mr. Miller, Mr. Muller. Voting No: None. Absent:
Mr. Wagner and Mr. Fults.

Case ~6.. State Plans For Ol_vmpic Training Comp_le~:

Mr. Kurak stated that he talked to Mr. Paul Erickson regarding the
Governor's program to have an olympic training center located in Anoka
County. A site in Blaine has been selected. That program is going to be
expanded upon and other sites are being researched. Mr. Kurak suggested
that a letter be forwarded to Mr. Erickson listing Ramsey's assets (sewer
and water, airport, river property) and requesting that the 150 acre parcel
west of the airport be given consideration.

Discussion ensued whether or not the letter should name specific sites or
refer to the Ramsey area in general. Mr. Kurak stated that in his
opinion, specifics lead to further discussion and generalities do not.

Motion by Mr. Kurak and seconded by Mr. Raudio directing that a letter be
drafted to Mr. Paul Erickson informing him of the amenities available in
Ramsey (sewer and water, airport, river property, county park land) and
suggesting that the Schwartzman property on the south side of Hwy. #10 and
the 150 acre parcel west of the Gateway North Airport be reviewed for
possible expansion of the Governor's Olympic Training Complex project.

Further Discussion: Mr. DeLuca stated that Mr. Schwartzman already has
plans for this property and that possibly the parcel to the west of Alpaca
Estates should be recommended for consideration. Mr. Miller suggested
naming the amount of acreage available in Ramsey rather than particular
sites.
Economic Development Company/March 5, 1987
